Lip Smackin’ BBQ didn’t start with a business plan — it started with a family cookout.

At one gathering, Allen decided to make a homemade BBQ sauce from scratch. He had no expectations beyond sharing it with family, but the reaction caught him completely off guard. Compliments poured in, plates were wiped clean, and then one comment changed everything. His nephew looked at him and said, “Unc… you need to bottle this. It’s lip smackin’ good.”
That moment sparked both the name Lip Smackin’ BBQ and the beginning of the journey.

Meet Allen “Pops” Brigham

Allen “Pops” Brigham’s love for BBQ began at a young age. From early on, he was fascinated by the many styles of barbecue, the balance of seasonings, and the way flavors come together to create something unforgettable. BBQ wasn’t just food to him — it was craft, culture, and connection.

As his passion grew, Allen became committed to understanding every part of the process — not just cooking, but how sauces are developed, produced, and shared responsibly with others. He educated himself on the business side of food, ensuring that Lip Smackin’ BBQ was built on a foundation of knowledge, compliance, and care.

That dedication is what allowed him to confidently transition from homemade sauces to a full-scale catering operation. Today, Pops is still hands-on, still learning, and still driven by the same curiosity and love for BBQ that started it all. His journey reflects patience, persistence, and pride in doing things the right way — with heart and integrity leading the way.
